Chennai Super Kings Academy
Prashanta's cricketing journey began in the village of Kulamua, Majuli. From inter-village tournaments he steadily progressed to representing his district in the 2025 U-19 Assam Premiere Club Championship. Today, he trains as a bowler at the Chennai Super Kings Academy. Inspired by MS Dhoni.
Studying in Bangalore
Ranima now studies in Bangalore and represents Hummingbird at national-level education forums. At Shiksha Samvaad 2025 in Guwahati, she confidently moderated a fireside chat titled 'Painting the Vision for Education in the Northeast', a panel of experts she facilitated as a student.
National Conference on Children and Nature
Chumchumi represented The Hummingbird School at the National Conference on Children and Nature, sharing her perspectives alongside peers from far more privileged spaces. The kind of platform that confirms what nine years of inquiry-based education can do.
Poorna Learning Center, Bangalore
Appun is part of the first batch to graduate Class 10 from Hummingbird in 2025. There were years she missed school because of household responsibilities and was told her path would stay narrow. Today she conducts psychology experiments at Poorna in Bangalore. She wants to study at a good university.

Beyond the report card
Science · National
A Hummingbird student represented Assam at the National Children’s Science Congress, the kind of platform that puts an island child on the same stage as the metros.
Sport · State + National
Multiple medals at state and national level in martial arts and volleyball. The school’s daily morning training programme is now into its sixth year.
Theatre · 800+ audience
Class 5 staged an hour-long musical adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farmto a 800+ audience on opening night of AMMO 2025. Class 8 did the same with Nabakanta Baruah’s Siyali Palegoi Ratanpur in Assamese the next evening.
Festival · Student-led
Grade 9 students independently raised ₹5 lakh+ to host AMMO 2025, a three-day literary festival that drew 800+ daily participants from 20+ schools across Majuli.
Science · Children's Science Congress
Recognition
On campus
The renowned actor came to The Hummingbird School during his visit to Majuli. Students performed Borgeet, Assamese poetry, Mising Oi: Nitom, and the Gumrag dance. He stayed for an interactive session.
National stage
Sreya Rakshit (Academic Lead) represented the school on the panel “Childhood in Crisis, Challenges & Solutions.” Ranima, our student, moderated a fireside chat at the same event.
Production partner
Sumit Lai Roy’s team directs and produces our annual Class 5 English theatre production every year. Six productions and counting.
Every additional contribution doesn’t go to overhead. It goes to one more child who would otherwise drop out, and one more story to tell on this page next year.
